54.8 percent of adults say homosexual relations are "always wrong."
SO!!!! In a recent poll of 95,000 people here in Forsyth County, 59.43% of adults thought Bill Schatzman would make a better Sheriff than Jerry Herron at 40.57%. Does that make it so?
A significant percentage of people polled say they believe in ghosts. That doesn't mean that ghosts exist. A poll taken 100 years ago probably would have indicated a strong preference for maintaining the second-class citizenship for African-Americans, but that would not have made it right.
For OT from last night: If unions' workforce penetration is onlyy 10%, then their having 10-20% of corporations' money to spend on politics seems to verge on disproportionate by your logic.
Also, corporations and businesses in general tend to be eclectic in their giving. Note GE's chumminess with the Obama Administration, or the friendliness of a regional large law firm with the Democratic Party. Union contributions are monolithic. So, corporate money is diluted somewhat compared to unions' contributions.
Going further, I have the right not to contribute to corporations, unlike union members, whose dues are collected with each paycheck (nevermind that opt-out provision--unions understate the amount). I can and do spend my money based in part on a business' politics. Thus, my last appliance purchases have been Whirlpool and LG, not GE. And, my standard beer is non-union (I'm sure the Stellas with which I treat myself are union-brewed, but that will be a Belgian union). And my next automobile will not be GM product or Chrysler, and probably not a Ford.
