The governed people
We, the governed people, decide who governs us — with our many votes, as designed, not their few stolen wallets. For all of us and our welfare, for our safety and defense, we make the law and laws. This liberty and justice for all can never, should never, support the tyranny of the few over us. No corporations or moguls of wealth have the right to govern us by securing the very government that secures and protects us.
Our government by law or their government by wealth and power; that is our constant choice. From Kings Solomon through James to George and Charles, notwithstanding their queen stand-ins — the tyranny of money through aristocracy or oligarchy, whether by Solon of Athens or Louis of France, provides for its families and friends first. The slaves, the bondaged, the dirty workers — the labor forces that provide all the necessary goods and services — subsist to poverty under the dogma of "the rich get theirs first."
The moment is now. The democracy for all of us, or the fascism for the few. If we have the courage to take this democracy for the many, we can vanquish the Republican mob for the gang and its payoff.
Each generation with every election has the choice. Vote for those who vote for us, or be damned by the Joe McCarthys and Scott Walkers, who are held only by their crazed ideologies and purchased fraternities.

Use the greenways
Greenways were an important consideration when we selected our home in Winston-Salem. We use the greenways for quiet recreational walking. And, along with our neighbors, we host a section of the greenway trail on our properties.
Physical activity is one key to reducing the epidemic of obesity and lack of fitness. Greenways and bike lanes provide an opportunity for healthful exercise. They contribute to the health of the environment when we select walking and bicycling to replace driving for short errands.
If the writer of the letter "Affected property" (June 12) takes a walk on a nearby greenway, his opposition could change to support. He might see that greenways are a valuable part of our community.

Help America vote
In the fast-approaching November elections, it is important to raise awareness about critical issues that will affect the flow of our democratic process. The North Carolina legislature has failed to release over $4 million in federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA) money, an amount that was put in an N.C. bank account in order to prevent a Florida fiasco from happening here.
The N.C. House version of the 2012-2013 budget proposal includes the $664,000 of "maintenance of effort" funding for the State Board of Elections that could result in the release of this money. This initial first step was due to organizations like Democracy NC, N.C. Center for Voter Education, NAACP and other nonpartisan organizations that work toward increasing voter engagement. It is also due to the thousands of citizens across the state who spoke up through petitions, phone calls, rallies and emails.
We cannot let partisan politics get in the way of promoting an inclusive democracy. This money goes toward voting-machine upgrades, poll-worker training and the maintenance of early voting sites — all important aspects in making sure that every voter's ballot is counted. The N.C. Senate has yet to listen to our pleas.
We need to tell our senators to listen to the voices of the people. Senators, "HAVA heart" and release these funds. The election process ensures that our government is "of, by, and for the people" and we need to make sure that this important process in our democracy runs smoothly.

I don't know which is losing its mind the fastest, Mr Cam or the desperate hangers on to the dying blue governance model. You are not being defeated by Republicans here or their kindred spirits across Europe. That bunch of Key Stone Cops can't pull it off. You and your like minded are being defeated by the unsustainable, unworkable and bankrupt ideology you have used to buy off the masses since WW2. Invoking McCarthy to cover your own self inflicted wounds is desperate. In that vain, since you opened the door, you sir are a blooming red liberal idiot.
ReplyDeleteThis lady, Joyce Porter, reminds me of people like Rush. They don't have a clue.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good video. It supports my contention that laws need to drawn up to keep homosexuals separated from heterosexuals in public bathrooms and showers.

In Rush's perpetual effort to prove me wrong, he said yesterday that I was wrong that Martin never chased or followed Zimmerman. If you jump to the 59 second mark of the below recording, you can clearly hear Zimmerman say Martin is coming toward him, 'he's coming to check me out'. Not only that, Zimmerman says he (Martin) has his hands in his waistband.
ReplyDeleteMartin clearly represented a threat to Zimmerman at that point, and his life was in danger when Martin started pounding his head against the concrete. Thus, his use of deadly force was justified.

Once a liberal NW, always a liberal NW.
And about 5 seconds later, Martin is running away, you dunce.

Spoken like the true liberal NW that you are. 'Never'.....admit that you were wrong. Hee Hee....you gotta love liberals.
DeleteI hope Stab goes on a liberal recruitment drive. This is getting too easy.
In a move that continues the vast amount of corruption within the Obama Administration, Obama is using 'executive privilege' to block the turn-over of documents in the 'Fast and Furious Investigation' requested by a Congressional oversight committee.
ReplyDeleteIt's clear, at least to most of us, that AG Holder's Justice Department has come unhenged. If Obama is not voted out of office, this investigation will continue into his next four years. This realization offers yet another reason to vote Obama out of office.

So the Justice department used to be "henged", but now is not.
DeleteYou would think that that would be good news, because why would the Justice department ever have been at Stonehenge, which is in England? It should be in Washington so that legal experts like Buck boy can go up there and give the Attorney General a good thrashing whenever there is a need for it.
Poor Rush....he hates to take verbal beatings. Of course, it's getting to be a daily occurrence, so he needs to get used to it.
DeleteHee..Hee..liberals, you gotta love 'em.
Good afternoon folks!
ReplyDeleteLTE 1: Mr. Cam does have a way with words. Concentrated wealth and power is the history of Western Civilization and continues to this day. Wealthy corporations are going to run the world regardless if people vote "R" or "D".
LTE 2: Exercising outdoors is also shown to have a positive affect on one's mental state, so walking along greenways may lessen that person's curmudgeon attitude.
LTE 3: As noted in LTE 1, government today is about being "of, by and for" those who pay the campaign bills. Sure, they will pay lip service to the constituents and throw the occasional bone to the TB's who make up the majority of voters in the primaries when the gerrymandered seats are decided, but it's mostly about doing the bidding of those who make the largest campaign contributions.
