Good day, folks!
Forum poster Wordly suggested I set up and moderate a Blogspot blog to provide an alternative site for Forum posting so that we can continue to exchange with those who need a bit more anonymity than Facebook provides. So post away and feel free to vent and rant as needed, but let's maintain the Readers' Forums rules, more or less. That means no restroom acrobats. My email is public. If you feel the need to be unrestrained, go for it. I have a thick skin.
Have at it! Best wishes, Staballoy aka Mike Walker
Thanks Stab. I don't know if anyone will migrate, but it is worth a try. It took some doing on my part to sign in somewhat anonymously. I set up a Yahoo account, but it kept wanting to post my name along with handle. I finally went in and changed my name to Wordly Discourse.
ReplyDeleteI'll still contact you later with my real name. We'll probably both be at Mount Tabor's graduation next spring, but that is a large venue.
Hi Wordly and Stab, what a great idea. I sent an e-mail to Carol Hanner and let her know how disappointed I was with the Journal's decision. Did you guys notice that all of the former comments have been removed? It is like losing a lot of friends all at once and not even getting to say Bye.
ReplyDeleteI will look forward to meeting you at the graduation, if not before.
ReplyDeleteIdeally, we can carry some of the flavor of the old site over here.
Miss Ellie, it was a bit abrupt. I'll be letting the folks with whom I exchange emails know.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I read what was about the happen, I posted by goodbyes. It was rather abrupt, just like the changes they made about this time last summer. I hope this alternative forum works out. Thanks for trying Stab.
ReplyDeleteGlad to try. I will post my responses to tomorrow's LTE's both here and in the Journal's Forum. I don't mind using the Journal's venue, but I well understand reticence on the part of others.
ReplyDeleteEncourage others whom you may encounter to join us here, disparate views welcomed.
If the above post shows up twice, I apologize. I am a reasonably sophisticated user for my extremely advanced age, but every site has its own peculiar quirks, one or more of which I may have missed.
ReplyDeleteIf so, mea culpa.
Hi, OT. It actually didn't show up at all, our loss.
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon All..........I am not sure why I am a follower and not a member, I am not sure that it matters. I found the Journal letters rather boring and redundant today but I did enjoy Charles Krauthammer's editorial. Anyone else? BTW, O.T. Rush, do you have another name that you use or are you someone new? :)
ReplyDeleteMiss Ellie, I have no idea of the difference between a follower and a member.

ReplyDeletemissellieg, I asked myself the same question about "follower/member" and discovered that there is a button near the top of the page that says something like "Click here to join this site" or something to that effect. That will allow you to become a member, rather than a follower, although I could not say what the difference is.
ReplyDeleteI am not new. I just decided that rather than have multiple names like LG, I would just use my real name on both the Journal site and here.
On the debt ceiling, imo it should be raised enough to cover things thru the end of year, and spend the time till then working out a workable deal. We must reduce and control spending. Govt spending is out of control. When Clinton was prez the national debt increased by $547 Million per day, under Bush the national debt increased by $1.6 Billion per day, under Obama so far the national debt has increased by a whopping $4.1 Billion per day. When Obama took office the national debt was $10.5 Trillion, presently it is $14.3 Trillion an increase of almost $4 Trillion in 2.5 years and he is wanting the debt limit increased $2+ Trillion to cover the next 16 months. That will bring the national debt to over $16 Trillion dollars, an increase of some $6 Trillion dollars during his 4 years in office. The previous $6 Trillion dollar increase in the national debt took some 19 years! The national debt at EOY 2008 was $10 Trillion and it was $4 Trillion in 1992! Obama and the democrats will have done in 4 years what previously took 19 years!
