Wednesday LTE's 20110713

Good AM, folks!

I copied my post from the Forum, and have extended my comments slightly.

LTE1: There are bits of truth in this TB rant, but the government does have a right to regulate the air we breathe. I suspect the indignant LTE writer probably would like to see the government telling the operator of a smoking, oil-burning junker about the air we breathe when it is idling in traffic in front of the LTE writer. More of you would join me in dealing with asthma were it not for the Clean Air Act. Incandescent bulbs are very wasteful of energy, at least in warm weather months (90% of the electricity they consume simply makes heat, which is useful in winter), and energy usage is a matter of national security. I don't like inflating our money, but what is the consequence of not doing that (I genuinely do not know). But yes, poor presidential judgment does have consequences, but this is not a profound statement. It is correct whether the Prez is named Obama, Bush, Clinton, and so on.
LTE2: I doubt I share many of the LTE writer's liberal beliefs, but I agree with her LTE, covering this thoroughly discussed subject in Readers' Forum.
LTE3: Handguns to a wedding? Whence came that LTE, Kandahar? How about moonshine to a christening? Or Hustler magazine to a Sunday school class? If I thought I needed to arm myself to attend a wedding, I would send a gift along with regrets. If the person who inquired of Ask Amy was really serious, he needs to see a therapist about the need to strap manhood onto his hip. What a lout.

  1. Handguns to a wedding. Maybe they were out to protect themselves from the coyotes.

Spoke with a wildlife officer yesterday who said they had found a coyote den in Forsyth Co. and inside were a lot of animal collars. No natural predators except for men with guns.

Guard you cats, Stab. Good day.

    Good day.

  2. Hi and thanks, Wordly. My kitties take being housecats literally. They never go outside. However, they do hangout on a second story screened porch. Hmmm. I better look into reinforcing the screen facing the landing.

The handguns at wedding matter reminds me of one of my rough and ready employees years ago. One December AM he showed up for work decidedly worse for wear, which was surprising since he was muscularly husky and a competent poolhall brawler. His head looked like a bunch of Concord grapes. We inquired as to what combat he'd seen over the weekend.

Apparently there had been a family Christmas party during which a fracas broke out after one of the sisters-in-law said something cutting about the moral fiber of another sis-in-law.

  3. Too funny Stab, sounds like the family that one of my sisters married into. When they discovered that they didn't have a picture of a relative while he was living they just took one of him in his casket and hung it on the wall!

  4. What the heck happened?

Thank you Staballoy for your way-beyond-generous moderating... Um, Facebook is not efficient for me so I guess I'm officially out of the Journal forum, tant pis.

Well hopefully the crowd congregates here.

    Greetings and best to all.

  5. PS - Staballoy, I've told you before you're a very handsome man, but I have to reinforce the fact that Mrs. Staballoy is a true stunner.

It's interesting to see people's more mainstream personae.

Thank you, Gigi. Mrs. Stab's beauty goes beyond her skin. She is a fine and honorable person.

  7. I see we have 5 members. and I do not know the difference between followers and members, but welcome all. The Forum was pretty tame today, so I hope we can migrate folks here, and pick up the pace. Invite folks to come. Diversity of opinion welcomed.

I will post responses to the LTE's tomorrow. I may see if I can post all the LTE's is to make commenting a bit easier.
