Winston-Salem Journal LTE MO 10/29/12

Proud to know her
I have known Elisabeth Motsinger and her husband John for a number of years through our membership at the same church. She is one of the finest people I know and would truly be a credit to the people of North Carolina as our 5 th District representative in Washington. I am proud to know her, proud to support her and proud of her for working so hard and so honorably for the good of all the people in our community.
I firmly believe that we deserve the high quality of personal integrity, intelligence and good will that Elisabeth Motsinger represents. She deserves our votes.

Representation
I am supporting Elisabeth Motsinger for Congress as she will finally represent the people here. Our current representative is totally out of touch with our area; she represents people with a broad range of incomes and an average of about $50,000 a year, yet she votes to cut support for programs that working people need and supports tax cuts for multi-millionaires. They may support her campaign, but few live in our area.
Please look at the records and vote for Elisabeth Motsinger for the 5th District, so we will finally have representation.

Elusive truth
Unfortunately, I have not been able to dodge all of the political ads and biased reporting of this election. What I have seen is that the Democrats mislead and lie. The Republicans just outright lie. In fact, the Republicans have shot themselves in the foot so often, the NRA might run out of bullets.
Are the candidates so incompetent that they feel the only way to get elected is to mislead the public or is it that they are so out of touch with reality that they wouldn't recognize the truth if it jumped up and smacked them in the face?
If the voters only voted for honest candidates, no one would be elected.

A better place
This election I will cast my vote for Elisabeth Motsinger for 5 th Congressional District. I have known Elisabeth for over 25 years and during all that time she has consistently demonstrated a commitment to making the world a better place.
She listens respectfully to all points of view, but maintains her core values of integrity, compassion and justice. She is truly “of the people,” someone who understand the struggles of the middle class and what it takes to raise a family in tough economic times.
Elisabeth Motsinger will serve the people of the 5 th District well. I am proud to call her my friend; I will be even prouder to call her my representative.

She genuinely cares
Empathy is an increasingly rare commodity in politics, but voters in the 5 th Congressional District have an opportunity to elect a representative who genuinely cares about her constituents.
Elisabeth Motsinger’s two terms on our Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School Board clearly demonstrate not only her ability to understand the needs of those she represents — students, parents, teachers alike — but to work creatively and collaboratively to further their interests.
Wouldn’t it be refreshing to have that kind of representation in Washington?
I’ve known Elisabeth for nearly 15 years through church and community involvement, and strongly encourage anyone interested in a representative who listens, who cares and who will actually work to get things done, to vote for Elisabeth Motsinger.

A voice of reason
I am writing about our choice for the 5 th Congressional District. Early in her campaign, I had the opportunity to meet and talk with Elisabeth Motsinger. I was impressed with her understanding of the issues that face us and with her calm and congenial demeanor. Elisabeth is my choice for U.S. representative.
Let’s send a voice of reason and civility to represent North Carolina in the U.S. House. Vote for Elisabeth Motsinger this election.

A balanced solution
Please add my name to those endorsing Elisabeth Motsinger as our 5th District representative. We need a responsible representative willing to work across the aisle to achieve a balanced solution to our current challenges.
I have known Elisabeth for 15 years as a caring and responsible parent, and have been proud of her centrist approach in her service on the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School Board. She has run a positive campaign focusing on her positions and political outlook, a strong indication of how she will serve us in Congress. We need a change for the better.

An internal threat
I cannot imagine a greater internal threat to America than electing President Obama to a second term. He, his cabinet and his czars have worked overtime to bring America down in every way possible. My prayer is that the American people will see through his rhetorical, slick-talking, spin-weaving, hateful, divisive ways.
America desperately needs a godly, responsible leader who loves America and can really lead us in these unsettling times. Mitt Romney is America's only hope for the next our years. May God bless America!

The real issues
I write in support of my dear friend and role model, Elisabeth Motsinger, who is running for 5 th Congressional District. I am inspired by her seemingly endless energy, her ability to connect authentically with people of all backgrounds and her commanding poise in the face of adversity.
Most noteworthy, however, is Elisabeth's uncanny ability to keep her campaign clean. Try as I might to get her to hop on the opponent-dissing bandwagon, she simply will not go there and guides me back to the real issues at hand. Sounds like a skill-set fit for Washington, yes?

Character
This election comes down to character: Mitt Romney has character, President Obama is a character.
Romney is confident and competent because he stands for something larger than himself. Obama is insecure and incompetent because he stands for nothing except himself and his self-promotion. He's had no budget, no plan, takes no responsibility, won't be held accountable, calls lies truth and truth lies.
The shine of the “golden calf” has tarnished. We find he is not the savior, the leader, the unblemished, the “God incarnate” he and his followers thought he was. We unfortunately have found him to be an empty vessel, vain but empty.
DAVID MOBLEY

A welcome change
I believe that Elisabeth Motsinger will be a welcome change to represent our area in Congress. Her positive political campaign speaks volumes about her character. In addition, her fresh ideas and solid experience demonstrate a willingness to serve responsibly.
I urge a vote forward, a vote for Elisabeth Motsinger.

  1. Honest concern for others is the key factor in improving our day to day lives. When you are warm-hearted, there is no room for anger, jealousy or insecurity. A calm mind and self-confidence are the basis for happy and peaceful relations with each other. Healthy, happy families and a healthy peaceful nation are dependent on warm-heartedness. Dalai Lama

More crazy talk. I don't think I've heard anyone except folks on the right refer to President Obama as some sort of "savior, The ONE, god incarnate, unblemished..." or any other of that nonsense. Vote Away the Crazy.

There are Giants in the sky!
There are big tall terrible Giants
    in the sky!

    When you're way up high
    And you look below
    At the world you left
    And the things you know,
    Little more than a glance
    Is enough to show
You just how small you are.

    When you're way up high
    And you're own your own
    In a world like none
    That you've ever known,
    Where the sky is lead
    And the earth is stone,

    You're free, to do
    Whatever pleases you,
    Exploring things you'd never dare
    'Cause you don't care,
    When suddenly there's

A big tall terrible Giant at the door,
A big tall terrible lady Giant
    SWEEPING the floor.

  4. GAY MARRIAGE

One of the most closely watched efforts on the ballot in several states this November relate to gay marriage.

Gay rights advocates see ballot efforts in Maryland, Maine, Washington and Minnesota as crucial to their efforts to expand marriage for gay and lesbian couples.

In the case of Maryland, the marriage initiative on the ballot could be the only successful effort to win the right to marriage in a state by referendum. It is being backed by Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, who is widely believed to be a potential presidential contender in 2016.

In Washington State, a legislative bill legalizing gay marriage is being challenged on the ballot. In Maine, a ballot initiative would overturn the state's ban on gay marriage, and Minnesota voters are being asked to vote on a measure that would create a state constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage.

I wish they'd put some gay bathroom and shower laws on the ballot to protect the privacy of heterosexuals.

  6. Top of the Hill Farms Sweet Potato Pie.

    3 cups mashed Sweet Potato
(I microwave 2 large SP's for about 15 minutes, let them cool enough to handle, then scoop out the insides)
    1.5 cups of half&half
    3 medium eggs
    1/4 cup softened butter
    1 cup brown sugar
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1/2 rounded teaspoon cinnamon
    1/2 rounded teaspoon Garam Masala
1 9" deep dish pie crust (I used Pet, but any will do, especially homemade)

    Preheat oven to 350*

Mash (I use a potato masher) or mix with mixer hot sweet potato with butter, then add brown sugar, spices, and vanilla and combine
lastly add half&half and stir in well.
add mixture to pie crust and bake for 1 hour
the mixture will rise like a souffle but will settle down while cooling.

    4. I think we need a Constitutional Amendment banning Meatloaf and Roseanne Barr from ever singing a duet. They could both go to jail in NC since it's still against the law to sing off key here.

      Delete
    5. Fortunately, the law against singing off-key in NC is an urban legend. If it were a real law, we would have to shut down all Baptist and evangelical Churches.
Singing off key in a Moravian Church is certainly frowned upon…you won’t get arrested but you will get some strange looks.

Another frequently cited NC law that forbids plowing with elephants is also made up.

We still do have some strange laws, most of them involving alcohol and sex.

If you have more than 11 six packs of beer on your property, you are guilty of a misdemeanor. But trade that in for kegs of beer and you can have as many as you like, 2, 4, 50, no limit.

And the law that forbids two unmarried people to cohabit in a hotel room is still on the books. Just the fact that you occupied the room is prima facie evidence of “fornication”, a misdemeanor. The good news is that you get a free pass for the first time. After that it’s a fine or jail.

Of course, there have been serious stupid laws as well. For nearly 200 years, oral and anal sex was outlawed in NC. Sometime in the 1970s, the law was revised to exempt married couples. But it remained in effect for unmarried couples until it was eliminated by the US Supreme Court in Lawrence v Texas (2003).

  7. Weather reporting by the media reminds me of reporting about Obama. It's way overhyped.

  11. Why would someone walk out after spending all that money on a concert ticket? Susan voted for Obama in 2008; I did not. We did not separate over it, didn't waste time arguing about it. Given that many entertainers lean left (except for a few superannuated rockers, as noted by Arthur), I can't imagine that anyone is surprised by entertainers' endorsements.

    LTE 1,2,4,5,6,7,9,11: Endorsement for Motsinger

LTE 3: I don't know of any way to have avoided political ads outside of turning off all media or taking an extended international trip. The worst of the deceptive ads are those produced by the PAC's who have no qualms about lying about the opponents' records or grossly distorting what the favored candidate will be able to do. The best bet is to totally ignore a candidate's "promises" (which are in reality highly optimistic goals) and focus instead on the proposed policies and priorities.

    LTE 8,10: Endorsement of Romney

Can't wait until political silly season is over. I really don't give a flip who people are supporting for whatever position and their endorsements certainly carry no weight with me whatsoever with the exception of attorneys who consistently endorse a particular candidate for judge or teachers who endorse school board candidates. I figure they at least have professional opinions worth listening to.

  15. A lot of people are wondering why the Reverend Pat Robertson has failed to make a statement about Hurricane Sandy. Some are even mocking him.

Well, enough is enough. I can tell you that the reason my friend Pat has not spoken is that the evil Demoncrats have been jamming his communications because they don't want the truth to get out.

But today, Pat managed to smuggle out a message to me. When it arrived, it looked like a slightly soiled sheaf of blank paper, but I instantly knew what was afoot. It was invisible writing, a method of communication that Pat and I have used since we were boyhood friends back in Lexington, VA, before Pat, at age three, cast a curse upon my father, causing him to move his family to the female, minority, gay, Democrat haunted city of Winston-Salem, a veritable hell on earth.

All I needed was a heat source. Since the sun was not out, I found a couple of Super Pac political ads, and held the pages up to them. It worked.

Here is Pat's message. Some of it may seem a bit confused, but in the end, you will get the message:

"Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon III, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, we will serve you if you'll get us free from the French. True story. And so, the devil said, okay it's a deal. Ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after the other. That island of Hispaniola is one island. It is cut down the middle; on the one side is Haiti on the other is the Dominican Republic. Dominican Republic is prosperous, healthy, full of resorts, etc. Haiti is in desperate poverty and they are 97% gay. Same island. They need to have and we need to pray for them a great turning to god.

On the other hand, just blame Osama Obama."

See what I mean? You know what to do. If you don't, on November 7, Hurricane Tony will strike. Can you imagine a gayer name for a hurricane? Think Tony Curtis, think Tony Blair, think Tony La Russa, think Tony Randall, think Tony Franciosa, think Tony Bennett, think Tony Rome, think Tony Martin, think Marc (An)tony…

Hurricane Tony will mince ashore simultaneously in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Norfolk, Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, Savannah, Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa, Mobile, Biloxi, New Orleans, Beaumont, Galveston, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle.

At the same time, tornado Tab will be ravishing the vast interior of our nation, followed by earthquake Troy. Which is gayer…Tab, Tony or Troy? It doesn't matter. The United States of America will become a smoldering ruin, reduced to an acre or so in Topeka, Kansas, where the Reverend Fred Phelps, the newly proclaimed President of the newly founded United States of Hate and Discontent, will reign supreme.

You do know what to do, don't you?

  18. Got to give Buckboy credit…he is an accurate mirror of his candidate, willing to lie at every turn for any reason, and in this case, to lie for no reason, as always, driven by desperation. Like Etch-A-Sketch Mitty, he was hoping that no one would notice, but as always, there is someone who is way ahead of his sleazy little game.

His copy and paste above is from FoxLies®, published 11 days ago, on October 18, so as outdated as the Model T. And the "information" contained therein is as wrong as Ford's later, and equally as misdated disaster, the Edsel.

    1. As has been frequently pointed out, the national popular vote polls are meaningless. The only thing that matters is the state by state electoral vote.

    2. As has also been frequently pointed out, Buckboy's numbers are from a Gallup "outlier" poll which has no hope of being accurate.

    3. The second statement regarding shifting of the electoral map is simply a lie. If we voted today, according to the RCP, Obama would get 290 electoral votes, up 4 from last week.

This is what happens when one moves from "science" to "faith"…"rape" becomes "god's will".

Let's have a quick look at today's latest info, as posted by Reuters, probably the most neutral of all the news services:

Obama Extends Narrow Lead Over Mitt Romney: Poll

    Reuters | Posted: 10/28/2012 12:51 pm EDT Updated: 10/29/2012 8:31 am EDT

WASHINGTON, Oct 28 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama has extended his narrow lead over Republican challenger Mitt Romney among likely voters in a race that remains statistically tied nine days before the election, according to a Reuters/Ipsos tracking poll released on Sunday.

Obama has a 49 percent to 46 percent edge over Romney, marking a 1 point increase from Saturday but still within the daily online survey's 4 percentage-point credibility interval for likely voters.
    __________

Of course, Buckboy threw his nonsense into the pot late tonight, a part of his ongoing strategy, which consists of making numerous ridiculous statements with the idea that such statements will be forgotten tomorrow, so giving him a fresh start each day.

We will repeat this post early tomorrow, and every day until something changes, and enjoy watching him either avoid the issue or attempt to lie his way out of it.

As a part of his strategy, he may, as he has before, delete his above statement. Never fear, we have already copied it, so it will come back to haunt his silly ass.

    See ya later, alligator!
