A similar warning
I was astonished when I read the article "U.S. warns world that bias against gays isn't acceptable" (Dec. 7).
The article mentions Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton's speech in Geneva. The address states that the U.S. could use foreign assistance as well as diplomacy to insist that certain nations that have a history of discrimination against lesbians and gays rethink these practices if they want the U.S. to continue support them. Clinton goes on to say, "Gay rights are human rights, and human rights are gay rights," and a country's cultural or religious traditions are no excuse for discrimination.
I await a similar warning to all states in the U.S. that have built or are in the process of building into their state constitutions amendments that deprive the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning) community of exercising their right to enter into a legally sanctioned marriage. Perhaps many of the conservative evangelical legislators would do well to take under consideration the idea so well put by Clinton, that cultural or religious traditions are no excuse for discrimination.
While it is admirable for the administration to take such a stand, one would think that after years of abuse and discrimination at home, it would work toward putting its own house in order before doing any finger-pointing in the global arena.

He will be missed
I agree with columnist Scott Sexton that the closing of 4 Runners Only will leave a void ("Small firm leaving big void," Dec. 4). His knowledge and encouragement inspired so many people to reach goals they never thought possible. Whether you ran or walked, he applauded your efforts. He knew the shoe I preferred and would have them ready when I needed a new pair. His personal knowledge of his customers is rare to find these days.
You will be missed, Steve. We wish you well as you begin a new chapter in your life.

"And if it seem evil unto you to serve the lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." — Joshua 24:15.
Where have all the Christians gone? Are there no more Christians in this country? Why do we not say anything when our lord and savior is being challenged? Jesus said, why do you call me Lord when you will not obey me?
I believe there are more than 600 churches in Winston-Salem, most of which confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior. If this is true, why don't we stand up and fight or just say something when our faith in Jesus Christ is being attacked by the Democratic Party?
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says that being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender is the same as being African-American like other protected classes ("U.S. warns world that bias against gays isn't acceptable," Dec. 7). I am African-American and a member of the Democratic Party. Most blacks are believers in Jesus Christ and Baptist. To be a believer means you must do and say what our Lord and savior did and said. Today Christians are called to put their Lord, God and savior Jesus Christ before everything else and this includes politics.

Important candidate
While you're printing all these political columns about the Republicans running for office, you've forgotten another very important candidate: President Barack Obama.
On Tuesday of last week, he gave a speech that some commentators are calling the best of his career. It definitively spells out his political philosophy and his campaign policy. Why haven't I read about it in the news or editorial section? Is the Journal continuing its slide to the right?
I laugh when I hear people say the Journal is liberal. You're owned by a conservative corporate entity. You regularly print columns by conservatives John Hood and Nathan Tabor, and your favorite syndicated columnist seems to be Cal Thomas — he's in your paper about three times a week. You're bending over backward in your editorials to say something nice about the incompetent Republican state legislature, like Dec. 8's "Ultimately, legislature made right move." You never fail to endorse Republicans for president.
Who will it be this time, Journal? Newt or Mitt?

ReplyDeleteThe Journal endorsed Bush in 2000, no one in 2004, and McCain in 2008.
ReplyDeleteMr McClain:
ReplyDeleteClinton, and other liberals, think they know better than anyone else what is right for the world. Most countries and people realize that homosexuality is aberrant sexual behavior. They also know that it does not comport well with the general well-being of a society because such behavior is contrary to the laws of nature.
Pedophilia is another form of aberrant sexual behavior, but no one is saying to make it legal, or that countries that have laws against it have to change them.
You see, Mr. McClain, liberals don't use logic in their rationale. Because, quite frankly, I don't think they're that smart.
I find, like you, Clinton's comments and actions on the issue offensive and outrageous. That's why we need to remove Obama in 2012.

Ms Gibson:
ReplyDeleteThe Journal is a liberal newspaper. Just like the New York times is. The paper is pandering to a current population that is changing as the more affluent and educated populace abandon the city.
The Journal has no choice. It's either tell the truth about liberal policies and what they have done to the country, or spread the propaganda that liberals want to hear and survive financially. Simple choice if you're a businessman.
Publishing a token article now and again by a conservative writer hardly makes a paper balanced. CNN tried to pass itself off as a 'balanced' supplier of news for years, but we all know that was a lie. FoxNews is in the same boat.
Most of us have moved on from the Journal to more credible news sources for our information.

This is an extreme left wing organization and citizens must be warned.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what that proves Bobby. Are you saying if they send money to Republicans that makes the Journal 'fair and balanced'?
ReplyDeleteI go by the content of what I read. I think that's a more objective measure of the political leanings of a newspaper.
"No greater example of it than this administration sending millions of dollars into the solar industry, and we lost that money," Perry said. "I want to say it was over $500 million that went to the country Solynda."

Furthermore, claims the Texas governor, the wealthy Mrs. Teasdale insists that Rufus T. Firefly be appointed leader of the small, bankrupt country of Freedonia before she will continue to provide much-needed financial assistance.
Warning that a treaty between Freedonia and the Grand Duchy of Fenwick was imminent, Perry blasted the Obama administration for it's lack of foresight in foreign policy.
ReplyDelete@Bob: Are you sure you're not talking about D-dub-Bush? OMG!!!
ReplyDelete(prediction: the above post will elicit a comment from Butt Butter)
ReplyDeleteAt this point, I honestly feel sorry for the guy.
ReplyDeletePerry may not be the brightest bulb on the tree, but he at least knows the difference between the badend and the goodend.
ReplyDeleteObama promised that our health care costs would go down if we passed 'Obamacare'. Just in 2010-2011 alone, health care costs have gone up 9%.
ReplyDeleteJob creation has also gone down as a result.
Thanks a lot Obama for the abomination.

ReplyDeleteIt's incredible the story that Johnny invented regarding his illegitmate child, and what he did to his wife. It's one of the great stories of The Democratic Party, and its people in the history of N.C.
ReplyDeleteI'm certainly no angel, however, what Johnny did to his wife, I find utterly disgusting!

When are white males going to get their rights back? They are discriminated against daily because of affirmative action quotas. Nobody dare say anything about that, because it's not politically correct.
(next he'll use his resources at FCSO Watch to get the dirt . . . on who?)
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon folks!
ReplyDeleteLTE 1: It is a bit ironic that the fed govt is admonishing other countries whilst many states are placing discrimination in their constitutions. I do believe it is just a matter of time before the SC rules gay marriage to legal in all 50 states.
LTE 2: Nothing like the small independent stores for service. There's quite a difference between being in a store where it's someone's livelihood vs. one where it's just a paycheck. 4 Runners Only will be missed.
LTE 3: Theological argument. I fail to see how standing up for gays to have basic human rights just like everyone else is an attack on Christianity. Whatever happened to "As you do unto the least of these..."?
LTE 4: Perhaps I should start tallying the "Journal is liberal" vs. the "Journal is conservative" and see who comes out on top. Just furthers my belief that the terms have become totally meaningless.
Millions are out of work or underemployed, many have lost their homes, and we have one millionaire presidential candidate wanting to bet another millionaire presidential candidate $10,000 as if it were $10. Just how out of touch with the country are these politicians?
ReplyDeleteYea, Newt would be considered the "working" man's candidate in the Republican party because he had to get a line of credit at Tiffany's, Romney and Huntsman would have just payed cash.

ReplyDelete'Dotnet' all I know is that the Journal promotes the following with their 'news' articles and editorials:
ReplyDelete1) Protect abortions
2) Allow 12 million illegals to stay and provide/reward them through amnesty
3) Allow gays to get married
4) Routinely critizes the Republican legislature on almost all decisions
5) Seldom critizes Perdue's dubious decisions
That's just for starters. I could go on. So let's not kid anybody. The Journal IS a liberal newspaper.

Hee Hee...you gotta love it.
ReplyDeleteHey Rush, you idiot. How many Obama stickers have you got on your car's bumper?
I'll bet old Rush is a typing away. Let's see what he comes up with....Hee Hee....!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet a cat's got the Kat's tongue. Hee Hee...oh lordy, lordy. He'll make some nonsensical rant soon. He can't help himself.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, Buckthroat babbles on about things of which he knows not. "Criticise" and "criticize" are both correct spellings of the word, the latter being, as is often the case, the British version.
ReplyDeleteAnd regarding the Postmaster General, those of us who are educated and who actually keep up with what is going on in the world have known for over a year, since he was appointed, who he is and what he looks like. If you require a Google search to know the same things, you will always be left out.
And as previously pointed out, there is NO image of Patrick Donohoe on Wikipedia. Not to mention that those of us who use the USPS daily for BUSINESS purposes (as opposed to those who waste their lives watching TV and surfing the web)know that he has actually improved the postal service.
Dumb, dumber, dumbest. How sad it must be to be constantly wallowing in ignorance.
