Reports do not mesh
They said what ? On its website, the United States Postal Service credits Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe with achieving "record levels of service and customer satisfaction, significant workplace improvements and a cumulative increase of productivity of over 50 percent since 2001, including seven straight years of productivity gains."
I have to wonder what they based that on. Certainly not on the "postal service" we have here. They raised the stamp prices, shortened the "open "hours and are closing some of their "stores" — hardly aimed at customer satisfaction. And that is the key to any successful business.
And "seven straight years of productivity gains" and "five years of red ink" ("Planned postal cuts won't affect Triad," Dec. 6) just do not mesh.
The USPS urgently needs a qualified business executive with a proven track record of profitability and customer satisfaction.

Rude liberals
The Journal's favorite columnist, Paul Krugman, has once again shown his arrogance and condescending attitude by lashing out at Newt Gingrich by saying he's not as deep a thinker as he thinks he is ("In GOP circus, send in the clueless," Dec. 6). It is amazing to me that he and the liberal talking heads on TV, such as Rachel Maddow, Ed Schultz and Lawrence O'Donnell, get away with saying the meanest, cruelest things about conservatives. And people say conservatives are mean-spirited? They must be kidding.
There are two blatantly different standards out there. I have never heard Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck or Sean Hannity say such nasty or mean things about liberals as the above-mentioned say about conservatives.
Krugman disguises his contempt a little better than the others. He thinks he knows better than everyone else. Maybe he's not as deep a thinker as he thinks he is. His problem is he is not grounded in reality, but academia and media. He knows nothing about running a business or making a payroll. He knows nothing about what it really takes to fix this economy. Bigger stimulus? Higher taxes on the rich? More social giveaways? If nothing else, the last three years have shown how poorly the policies of the left work in the real world.
You can't create meaningless jobs, and give billions away, and think that there will be any long-lasting improvement to the economy. The economy will improve when government gets out of the way of small business.

Patient public
John Stumpf, the top executive of Wells Fargo & Co., recently commented: "We want to return more capital to our shareholders. Our shareholders have been very patient" ("Wells Fargo chief hopes to raise dividend," Dec. 7). Well, so has the public.
With recent layoffs in the banking industry and rumors of more to come at the big banks, Stumpf is highlighting the problem that has generated the Occupy movements: Wells Fargo and other similar beneficiaries of past taxpayer bailouts have no loyalty to anything but their own bottom lines. When the right wing speaks of protecting the "job creators" from onerous tax burdens, they delude themselves in thinking that benefits will accrue to anyone other than the top executives and shareholders.
The Occupiers are raising the public's awareness regarding these unacceptable practices and deserve our support.

Legislative work
I've never known anyone over the age of 13 to be as obsessed with sex as the current N.C. Republican legislators. They were hired to create jobs and improve the economy, but they've done nothing except insert themselves into the private lives of citizens.
They've cut the budget so severely that the UNC system has had to cut more than 3,000 positions. This, they think, creates jobs? They've cut and closed government offices, putting many thousands of public employees out of work. Do they think moving people out of jobs and into unemployment lines is good for the economy? No, they know better.
Our N.C. Republican legislators have passed laws curtailing women's reproductive rights to a degree approximating those of the most restrictive theocracies. Not because they care about babies, but because they want to abolish the individual right to privacy.
And then there's their time spent on a marriage amendment to the N.C. constitution. Yep, not just a law, but a constitutional amendment. To strengthen it, I believe, against a future, saner legislature that would change that. And now the most recent assault on women: this absurd "unborn victims of crime" law.
And this is the party that claims it wants big government out of our private lives. It's clear its main goals are to cause damage to the economy so that our president will not be re-elected, and to control the private lives of individual citizens. How is it that they can fool so many voters?

FCSOwatch: This is a quick note to inform readers that the forum is under attack AGAIN. Your moderators are trying to fend off the attackers. However, it is much like fighting mosquitoes in the summer, it's difficult at best.
ReplyDeleteI have banned a lot of people, or at least entities that have entered this forum under the pretext of being a human. I've even banned myself unintentionally. I am sure there are some folks out there that wish I would have been banned permanently. But I'm back.
Most of you probably don't realize what is going on behind the scenes because posts cannot appear without the approval of at least one of the moderators.
Sincerely, The Buckbarian.
Although things have been relatively quiet in here lately, I predict things are going to pick-up again. There's little doubt.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless America, and God Bless what good is left of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department.
So you believe in God or just use his name in vain?
Did God create man in His own image?

ReplyDeleteJustme...........I hope you will expound upon your post. It makes little sense, but I approved it with the hope of receiving additional cogent information.
Your approval will not be needed around here.

ReplyDeleteYou should work on improving your listening skills.
Great News in Ohio, early voting has been saved at least for the November elections.
ReplyDeleteBob....sorry you are beset with the FCSO debris. I appreciate your vigilance.
ReplyDeleteI would like to encourage people to repeatedly watch the Rick Perry ad. The music is fantastic, and it's truly inspirational.
ReplyDeleteBobby, you can skip it for obvious reasons.

lol, I love that add. the more adds like that and the more independents vote democratic.
ReplyDeleteAh. WW, the first post was one Bucky posted on FCSO watch where he is a moderator. Unlike the FCSO watch, posts here do not have to have moderator approval.

ReplyDeleteI wear Carhartt. It's big at Gay Rodeos.
ReplyDeleteBob, guess I misunderstood what is going on. I tend to focus on what I use this blog for and anything else tends to go right past me. Maybe FCSO can keep to itself.
ReplyDelete:) I could have made it a lot more clear.

Arthur Gormley
Mr. Gormley:
Just look up his picture in Wikipedia, you'll find your answer there.
Once again, Buckets dependence on looking things up on the internet betrays his ignorance.
ReplyDeleteThere is NO picture of Postmaster General Donohoe on Wikipedia.
If you can't find there, keep looking. You 'suppose' to be smart, surely you can find it.
ReplyDeleteJesus, there's always a moronic Democrat lurking around every corner.
found it, now what?
ReplyDeleteThere are hundreds of pictures of Patrick R. Donahoe online at every kind of site imaginable. But I repeat, there is no picture of Patrick R. Donahoe in Wikipedia.
ReplyDeleteBuckette spends most of his life surfing the web but has no idea what website he is looking at, just as he has no idea what he is talking about at any time...just blather.
Knock me over with a feather...it's a white dude in a suit.
ReplyDeleteBut he doesn't look like Buckety, so he is bad.
ReplyDeleteHad a look at FCSOwatch...what a bunch of quivering cowards...hiding behind screen names while practicing character assassination.
ReplyDeleteIf they have proof of any of any of their nonsense, they should man up and file a complaint with the county commissioners, who have the power to investigate and refer charges to a judge who has the power of removal.
Much of the babble refers to the sheriff as a county employee. He is not. He is an elected official, in fact, the most powerful elected official in the county.
Another area that they love to jabber about is employee relations...especially the separation process. Well, you live in a "right to work" state, which doesn't mean that you have a right to work but an employer has the right to fire you without cause.
I'm sure that the same big mouths are knee-jerk anti-union supporters of the "right to fire" laws.
What a sick bunch of hicks.
Anthony: some of those shareholders you mention are individuals of less than exalted status. Others are institutional investors that pay pensions and insurance settlements. They're not all country clubbers. And the agenda of many OWSers is not simply to raise consciousness but to satisfy their own sense of entitlement.
ReplyDeleteHello OT: while not a participant of FCSO Watch (I know and like Bill Schatzman), I am indeed anti-union. As for right-to-work, I never cease to marvel at folks who recoil at all forms of discrimination, except discrimination against non-union workers, and in favor of coerced paid membership. "Freedom is slavery; slavery is freedom."
ReplyDeleteStab . . . Good to see your voice !!!
ReplyDeleteGot to love LaSombra's post: "Good to SEE your voice." Stab, I agree.
ReplyDeleteHowever, your obsession with unions continues to amuse me. While bankers and Wall Streeters gobble up our tax paid Bush administration bailouts and pay themselves unearned bonuses while spending tens of millions to lobby Congress to allow them to continue unfettered predation upon the middle class, you continue to rave on about a dying union movement which has been killed by 90 years of all out warfare by big business, government and the FBI.
Not to mention the huge corporate profits being held overseas because USA corps are not willing to pay their fair share of taxes. What planet are ya'll living on?
Got some news. You're a part of that middle class...not the big boys who are stealing us blind. Give me a break.
Arthur.......precisely....I figured you liberals would automatically 'assume' I had made some type of politically incorrect remark. I'm sure both Bobby and Rush were just one step away from calling me a racist et al.
ReplyDeleteRush fell my little experiment like the typical moronic, liberal Democrat that he is. He WANTED that picture to be of a black man.
